Belsay Quarry Walk

In late summer 2022, we visited Belsay Hall Castle and Gardens (quite close to the Newcastle Airport) on our journey home from a weekend at Lindisfarne.

Belsay is an English Heritage property and quite a lovely surprise.

As with most properties, there is a manor house, castle and a beautiful garden.

But this property also has a mystical old quarry that has since been reclaimed by nature and is full of trees, shrubs and other plants.

It looks like something out of Lord of the Rings.

It’s not a long walk but it is truly beautiful.

Hopefully the photos below give you some idea but it doesn’t quite show how majestic it is in person!

Well worth a visit if you are in the Ponteland area, just outside Newcastle.
